I had a job where I had to make a replica of the Heisler Locomotive train from back in the 1920’s, which was an innovative design for a train engine at the time. The engine was designed in a way to have the two cylinders both at a 45 degree angle from each other. This train was to be built in Blender, and then transferred to the Unity game engine. I built the train in a low polygon fashion (50,000+ triangles), baked the bump map, and also rigged the wheels and transmission, to rotate with only the action of one bone. For the materials, I created a material ID for the train, and pulled the model into Substance Painter to keep all of the textures in one full map, so that when you import the train to Unity, you will only have to worry about one batch of maps, rather than dealing with many more. My artistic take on the challenge was to present a visual representation of the effects of climate change. Similar to the message conveyed in Wall-E my model expresses the juxtaposition of despair and hope for a ecologically sound future. The damage on the model symbolizes the negative impact on Earth but still holds hope in the form of the pod accepting the plant. I focused in on subtle details that are symbolic for these current issues such as: dented & bent metal, the burning lines ( Earth’s rising core temperatures), the cracked glass (depletion of the Ozone Layer) and, the black malice at the figure’s base (oil spills in our bodies of water). A weapon I designed for the Prosthetic Art Challenge by VaatiVidya on Youtube. The Kuru-Kiru, also known as Spring-loaded War Fans A ranged device designed to swiftly close the distance between the target. When launched, the adjoined fans create a whiplash effect, cutting consecutively which causes heavy bleeding. The momentum caused by the steel fans affect the user, carrying them swiftly forward.
