Current efforts to conserve the Wazir Khan Mosque include utilization of advanced technology to aid documentation, planning, and monitoring. Funded by USAID and in partnership with CyArk, the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) established a technology center with an initial goal to document six historic sites in Pakistan. Beginning at the Wazir Khan Mosque, CyArk staff trained LUMS students in techniques of field scanning, data processing, and 3D modeling. The resulting documentation precisely measures current conditions – the extent of the loss of frescos, cracking of walls, and tilting of minarets – providing a baseline against which changes in conditions can be monitored and plans for preservation or restoration can be made. The lighthouse of the City of Chania on the island of Crete is the most recognizable part of the city and one of the oldest in the world. It is 21m high build on stone base and is located at the entrance of the Ancient harbour’s pier of The Fortress of Firkas. Build by the Venetians at the end of the 16th century it was reconstructed by the Egyptians in the form of minaret during the Egyptian period around 1830-40. During the Turkish Occupation, the lighthouse was abandoned. The current lighthouse tower is mounted on a trapezoidal base which holds since the Venetian Era. The tower is divided in three parts: an octagonal lower part, the middle part with sixteen sides, and the third part which is circular. The lighthouse was leaning badly due to bombings during WWII and earthquakes but was renovated in 2005-6. A preliminary model for the project I am working on. I have a lot of characters to create, so I was trying to see if handpainted will work, or if PBR will be better. I think handpainting only looks good if you really go to town with it, and since I plan on having lots of dynamic lights, I might want to just go Stylized PBR with normal maps. I can also separate out the material parts. Aragonese Castle (Italian: Castello Aragonese) is a medieval castle next to Ischia (one of the Phlegraean Islands), at the northern end of the Gulf of Naples, Italy.[1] The castle stands on a volcanic rocky islet that connects to the larger island of Ischia by a causeway (Ponte Aragonese). The castle was built by Hiero I of Syracuse in 474 BC. At the same time, two towers were built to control enemy fleets’ movements. The rock was then occupied by Parthenopeans (the ancient inhabitants of Naples). In 326 BC the fortress was captured by Romans, and then again by the Parthenopeans. In 1441 Alfonso V of Aragon connected the rock to the island with a stone bridge instead of the prior wood bridge, and fortified the walls in order to defend the inhabitants against the raids of pirates. Around 1700, about 2000 families lived on the islet, including a Poor Clares convent, an abbey of Basilian monks (of the Greek Orthodox Church), the bishop and the seminar, the prince with a military garrison.
