Castillo de Alhama de Murcia is located in the Murica region of Spain. The castle is situated high on a steep hilltop and is of Islamic origin, built during the 12th and 13th centuries. It is a medieval fortification of military character and Gothic style, which represents the most outstanding and oldest example of rock castle in Cantabria.

The Castle of Mesones de Isuela, which is located at the top of a rocky village above the town of Mesones de Isuela (Aranda)-Spain, is one of the largest castles in Aragon. It belonged to the Templars and the house of Luna. The first reference to the castle is the donation of Sancha de Abiego to the Templars in 1175. The Order of the Temple kept it until the end of its existence.
In the fourteenth century it was of the Fernández de Luna. The Archbishop of Zaragoza Lope Fernández de Luna had the building built that can be seen today and gave it in his will along with the towns of Tierga, Jarque de Moncayo, Sestrica, Nigüella and Lucena de Jalón to his sister Toda. When Archbishop Lope Ferrández de Luna died in 1382 the castle was almost abandoned. It passed into the hands of the Ximénez de Urrea upon Toda’s death.

First time doing architectural modeling with Blender, but I’m quite satisfied with the result. Fully done with Blender, from texturing to modeling, in the lapse of two days.

Today, I organised a 3D scanning workshop at ESSEC Business School. A brand new Knowledge Lab has been inaugurated a few months ago. It is a fab-lab for scientific and pedagogical innovation. Workshops on many different topics are organised on a regular basis, and today was about 3D scanning!
Now a few students know how to take good pictures with no shades, good lighting, and from any angle ; how to use Recap360 or Memento to turn those pictures into a 3D model ; how to enhance its mesh on Meshlab ; how to publish it on Sketchfab, edit it with the 3D Settings, publish it anywhere online, and enjoy it in VR straight from their cardboard!
Here was the object we used for the workshop, a set of coasters that look like tennis rackets. Well, we are not particularly fans of tennis in my family, even if we watch Roland-Garros as every French dudes do, so I have actually no idea why we have that at home. The Machine Gun Bunker of Alhama de Murcia is one of the best examples of 20th century military architecture in the Region of Murcia. Its design and construction is part of the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939), possibly built in 1937, forming part of the Ground Defense Plan of the naval base of Cartagena, strategic installation, from the military point of view, for the survival of the Republic.
The bunker is essentially built in concrete, a scarce and valuable material during the war that was only used in priority military installations. It conserves its two lateral entrances. Inside the bunker is divided into 3 spaces, two of them for the placement of heavy machine guns and the third to the storage of supplies and ammunition, also serving as a refuge.

SY Carola is possibly the oldest seagoing steam yacht in the world. It was built in 1898 by Scott & Sons of Bowling at their shipyard on the north banks of the River Clyde. At 70ft in length, Carola is of steel construction with teak decking and deckhouse, and now has two masts.
Built for personal use by the shipbuilder’s family, Carola was used as a yacht during the summer months and when not being used for pleasure by the family, it would take groups of senior yard staff on Clyde cruises. In winter it would have served as a tender and tug at the shipyard.
By 1964 it was sold to a private owner, before being purchased in 1981 by a Sus firm and used for corporate hospitality.
Carola became a part of the Scottish Maritime Museum’s collection in 1994.
