Modeled and textured for my MFA thesis, I researched artifacts at the American Civil War Museum in Richmond Virginia, and digitally restored these artifacts to what they might have looked like when they were first created. This pipe was heavily damaged and missing large chunks in the bowl. Restoring these missing pieces, and reducing the amount of wear on the pipe brought back more color and smoother features. Smoking was much more taboo back in the mid 1800s, even among soldiers. The Machine Gun Bunker of Calarreona it is located in Águilas (Murcia, Spain). Its design and construction is part of the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939), possibly built in 1937 or 1938, forming part of the Republic Coast Defense Plan.
The bunker is essentially built in concrete. It conserves its lateral entrance. Inside, the bunker allows the placement of two heavy machines gun. It also has two small spaces for storage of supplies and ammunition.

The harquebusier was the most common form of cavalry found throughout Western Europe during the early to mid-17th century. Early harquebusiers were characterised by the use of a type of carbine called a “harquebus”. In England, harquebusier was the technical name for this type of cavalry, though in everyday usage they were usually simply called ‘cavalry’ or ‘horse’. In Germany they were often termed Ringerpferd, or sometimes Reiter, in Sweden they were called lätta ryttare.
The armour comprises a Pot Helmet with two-piece skull joined by a low-comb, neck-guard (Lobster tail) of simulated lames and pointed peak or visor with three-bar guard hinged at each side to allow it to be raised when not needed. At each side are the cheek pieces for protection, hinged by means of leather strips.
