Everyday life in Pontes, Roman Staines; a piece of painted wall plaster. Some people in Roman Staines did rather well out of selling provisions to passing travellers; their houses had tiled roofs, Opus Signinum (concrete) floors, hypocaust flue tiles (under floor heating), window glass and painted walls. This is one of many fragments of painted wall plaster found in Staines. If you look carefully you can see a groove on the back where the slaked lime/sand/aggregate plaster was attached to the wooden ‘wattle’ frame of the wall, and a thin fine smooth layer of crushed marble which is applied to the outer surface to provide a painting surface. Analysis of samples from Staines by the University of Leicester showed our painted plaster to be painted ‘buon fresco’, or when the plaster was still wet, meaning plastering and painting were completed in panels of one days work before the plaster dried. So this project began being another hand paint piece, but then I started trying post processing effects here in Sketchfab and I realized it looked quite good as a grayscale. This is the first time I use the post-processing so much, up to the point it’s changing the whole final result. I’m still happy with this project. I used Geometry nodes to spawn different elements on the ground. The leaves texture for the trees is not complete since I didn’t have enough time to get into that level of detail. Another model that was made to go in the back of an ambulance made by Mikephoenix I simply went on google images to reference what large oxygen tanks look like and i am really happy with the result, I wanted to make a face mask on the end of the tubing but at the time it was too advanced for me to model. This was also made with 3ds max, headus UVlayout and Quixel and it helped me hone my skills in the programs. Hi! this is my entry for the Make a Splash in Amsterdam I reimagined 2.64 Tears of Steel splash screen into an animated world, i love the Bioshock aesthetic and thought that actually TOS it’s pretty cyber/steam punkish and the concept will fit pretty well. I enter the contest a little bit late so i didn’t have that much time for polish but i’m pretty excited about the out come. In this 3 days i went from, concept art to publishing here on Sketchfab!
