In August, 2017 I have joined French Foreign legion modding discord as a 3d artist, to work on the development of mods for Squad (the game). The first assignment I took over was the mortar. The process took a bit longer ( month or so), since I have a full time job and limited time to work on my solo projects. The process started with research and gathering of all the references possible. Next step was to block out the major parts and start working on the high poly model. The biggest problem was to figure out how the mortar actually works, shoots, moves and folds. After completing the high poly I started modeling the low poly. Next step was to unwrap the whole thing and get it ready for painting. After initial painting was finished I imported everything to Unreal Engine to see how everything looks in the Squad itself. The 3D model presents a digital reconstruction of a corset dating to 1598. The corset was reconstructed by using the original block pattern presented in «Patterns of fashion. Part 3» by Janet Arnold. The pieces of the corset were sewn together and put on the body in Clo3D software (for further details see https://www.emerald.com/insight/content/doi/10.1108/IJCST-06-2019-0093/full/html). The 3D model was subsequently postprocessed in 3dsMax and textured in Substance Painter.
