The concept incorporates parts of the 2007/08 cars aesthetics while its proportions are oriented along the lines of the cars from 2017 onwards. The cars front is slightly exaggerated to pull visual focus towards the bulky forms. Wings and winglets across the chassis have a modern, almost futuristic, form-language. The concept itself was spatially sketched with Blenders amazing Grease-Pencil. The modeling was also done in Blender “atop” the sketch. Similar to the message conveyed in Wall-E my model expresses the juxtaposition of despair and hope for a ecologically sound future. The damage on the model symbolizes the negative impact on Earth but still holds hope in the form of the pod accepting the plant. I focused in on subtle details that are symbolic for these current issues such as: dented & bent metal, the burning lines ( Earth’s rising core temperatures), the cracked glass (depletion of the Ozone Layer) and, the black malice at the figure’s base (oil spills in our bodies of water). And just as a side note: I am aware that the underside of the model and the fact that the platform is poking out from the lava does look rather unusual, however the main reason for this is because I wasn’t originally planning to upload this scene as a physical model that could be viewed from any perspective, instead, once the model was completed, I intended to take a single, static render of the scene as if it were looking through the eyes of a player, and uploading that image to my Artstation account, meaning that I wasn’t really focussing on any of the areas of the model that wouldn’t be seen within the final render.
