An update of my old low poly TIE fighter model, with windows cut in and a low poly interior, complete with pilot, added- adds a ton of depth and realism. None of it is meant to hold up in closeups, but it looks great from afar. The whole thing is ~5.5k tris, so if you want a hangar full or a fleet of them, it won’t slow down your scene. Perfect for all your imperial needs! PBR textures made in Substance Painter. The exterior is 2k, the interior is 1k, the pilot is 512x512. Cutting in the windows a couple years after the outside model was done made for some very messy topology around them, but the overall ship is still low poly enough, and no one will notice. The glass is also currently single-sided, just to be more performant than trying to have glass with thickness and refraction. Donnington Castle is a ruined medieval castle, situated in the small village of Donnington, just north of the town of Newbury in the English county of Berkshire. It was founded by Sir Richard Abberbury the Elder in 1386 and was bought by Thomas Chaucer before the castle was taken under royal control during the Tudor period. During the First English Civil War the castle was held by the royalist Sir John Boys and withstood an 18-month siege; after the garrison eventually surrendered, Parliament voted to demolish Donnington Castle in 1646. Only the gatehouse survives. The site is under the care of English Heritage and is protected from unauthorised change as a scheduled ancient monument. Galleys were used in Russia from Peter the Great onwards. The heritage of all galleys, Russian and Swedish, can be found on the Mediterranean. By 1790 this ship type was becoming obsolete. While it was large, the galley had difficulty navigating the open seas and could only carry a few guns in the bow and stern. It was essentially a carry-over from an earlier era of close combat on the seas. Some 80+ of these galleys were built in the 18th century in Russia. Example Three Background Intact metail chair frames donated to the Oak Ridge Arts Center in 2005 for their stage production of DW Gregory’s ‘Radium Girls’. Distressed wood was bolted to the chair frames to match the play’s visual design of a world in decay. Side note: the ‘Sloth Panda’ sticker was applied to one of the chairs after the production had closed in 2007 by a volunteer stagehand who complained that the chair gave them headaches. For the last model of the challenge, I have adapted and retouched one of the first scenes I did after studying and I have added an animation to include the topic as a lighting effect. Personally it has been a long and difficult year. Having joined the challenge has helped me handle it better. I hope next year will be better. The summer months were the most difficult to do but I am satisfied with the overall result. Next year I plan to spend the time learning Blender and Unreal 5 so I don’t think I’ll do the Weekly again. The AI is going to change everything, so things will have to be rethought.
