My contribution to the #AngelsAndDemonsChallenge with this Hellboy version of mine. It’s been a long time since I wanted to work on this character from Mignola being a huge fan of his work. At the exact same time i started working on this model, the challenge went live, so it was the occasion to participate. I don’t know if it’s okay since i didn’t create the original character to begin with, but the overall redesign, posing and sculpting is mine, so i’m trying anyway ! I used Zbrush and maya for the sculpt/modeling part and substance painter for the baking. I also wanted too stay light on the details to keep the stylized design intact and not fall into hyperrealism. I’m working on a full textured version wich should be live in a couple of days. The Yamato had two principal designs the first was the 1941 which counted with 33 large caliber cannons but a poor AA defenses and the final 1945 design which counted with 39 large caliber cannons and an important improvement of AA defenses. A high-detail model of the famous sword of Altair. It features the classic eagle head as a pommel, and the whole guard area is very reminiscent of the original sword. I took some liberties when it came to the rune-like details on the pommel itself, but tried to remain as close the the original(s) as possible. The sword was done via classic hard surface modelling, only said details on the pommels were sculpted and then baked onto the normal map. I gave the blade textures a good amount of wear, and went overall for a less clean “game-y” look. The entire project was done in Blender and Substance Painter. My entry for the #StorybookChallenge I wanted to work on a story from my childhood that hasn’t been turned into a dozen different movie-versions, and since I´m a huge fan of stars, glowing things and a little pinch of magic, the tale “The Star-Money” seemed perfect to me. It’s written by the Grimm brothers and tells the story of a homeless girl who is pure and kind by heart. As a reward for her kindness the stars fall from the sky and turn into gold. Im pretty happy with the result because hes looking pretty cute. :) Took my chances with haircards as well and i think it turned out ok, the only drawback being skinning them. It was tricky but i think i managed to nail down most of it.
