A sci-fi holographic computer I made that is loosely based off the IBM 5100. Originally created for Second Life, shown here in Metalness PBR. Textured in Quixel Suite and Photoshop, modeled in Blender with the HardOps plugin.
The hologram is static for now, it normally has an animation (in other engines) but I am still trying to figure out a good way to have both a smooth interpolated rotation of the rings on the bottom and a hard transition of frames on the main screen (only way I can currently think of is to use the frame-by-frame method here but that would require way too much mesh data for smooth rotation). Bilbo’s Pantry is inspired by the Bag End Pantry concept created by the amazing John Howe. That concept, along with the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit movies, motivated me to create this scene. I wanted to get back to some stylized, hand painted textures and created this scene with that goal in mind. The pantry scene is low poly and utilizes diffuse and specular maps only.
Tolkien’s works have been a big part of my life and I really enjoyed working on this piece. I hope to expand on it in the future and build more of Bag End.
