This is one of my first car models I built for a free independant racing game that allowed user generated content (racer.nl). It had a wonderful community that i do miss quite a bit. This was created before normal maps, high poly counts, and Substance Painter, but at least we had Photoshop… The Renault Alpine A110 is one of my favorite vintage automobiles of all time. I have only seen this car once in the flesh, and hope to again some day, it’s so beautiful to me. I have debated rebuilding this model as a high poly asset many times so I dug it out to see how it holds up in Sketchfab all these years later. See what you think and maybe download it for fun. It’s an homage to late 90’s PS1 games, like Gran Turismo. I used some of the same techniques used by artist back then such as opacity wheels, floating textures etc. although the not necessarily to make a 100% authentic PS1 era model. The VAZ-2101, commonly nicknamed “Kopeyka” (for the smallest coin, 1/100 of the Ruble), is a car introduced by the Soviet manufacturer AvtoVAZ in 1970, it was the company’s first product. The VAZ-2101 was sold under the brand “Zhiguli” in the Soviet Union, and branded as “Lada” for export. The name “Lada” was derived from a name of a “small boat (“ladya”) in Slavic language, symbolized by the logo badge. The model is based on the Italian Fiat 124. I uploaded the sword alone previously and planned to upload its sheath separately, but eventually decided put them together so it can have a complete showcase as a set. Both high res model and all the details made in Zbrush, painted the texture in substance painter. The animal on the sheath at first was just flat shapes with no details on it, and I thought I finished the model. Later on I looked at it again and again, eventually decided I should add more details and to make the animal figures more alive and to give them more characters, since this was a sword made for Paraoh’s battles, it just has to have that spirit. Painting the texture was another challenge since there are just so many details on the original antique. Made this piece with a heart of awe, and it was a great learning experience! This house was once belonged to a timber baron in a small Northern California city. But after the logging industry went bust, it’s owner abandoned it to the elements. While not a complete ruin, this house will need a lot of TLC to bring it back to it’s former glory. This house was an experiment for me in tileable materials and seeing how far I could get using nothing but Photoshop for texture creation instead of my usual go to, Substance Painter. Most of these materials started out with a diffuse texture I either photographed myself or found on CGtextures.com. I then created the normal, spec, emmisive, etc in Photoshop. I think this technique works well if you’re going to be putting the model into an engine like Unity or Unreal. The textures hold up at very close and they can be used across many different buildings or props you may have in your game. Also being able to add secondary textures would allow for more variations like grunge. Modeled in Maya 2019 3D Model is ready to download for free, this model contains 80257 polygons.
