Red Baron The infamous Red Baron is ready to land in your 3D scene! With his red triplane Fokker DR1, Richtofen is the most famous “flying ace" of World War I. This reconstruction is mainly based on blueprints of the Fokker DR1, on ancient photographs and on real reconstructed planes. Note : If the general aspect of the plane is faithful to reality, the accuracy of some parts (cockpit…) is not guaranteed at 100%. What’s inside? The base fuselage as one mesh 8 rigged moving parts (flaps, propeller…) and their rigged control cables the cockpit as one mesh so it can be removed if it is useless in your renders (cockpit parts like the control yoke are not rigged) 4k, 2k, 1k maps Normal maps are available in both DirectX and OpenGL formats. This project was made with 3dsMAX, Adobe Photoshop, and Corel Photo Paint.
It was designed to be added to Microsoft Flight Simulator X as an addon.
Some of novelties at the time were the flames of the afterburners wich is part of the 3D model, as opposed to the - at the time - standard use of sprite. On Flight SImulator, it was similar to what I uploaded here, but with a fresnel ramp added to the opacity of the flame in order to made it disappear when approaching 90° from the normal. 3D Model is ready to download for free, this model contains 59109 polygons.
