In Virgil, Laocoön was a priest of Poseidon who was killed with both his sons after attempting to expose the ruse of the Trojan Horse by striking it with a spear. In Sophocles, on the other hand, he was a priest of Apollo, who should have been celibate but had married. This particular sculpture was made by the unknown artist and is a copy of the original work. 3D scanned using photogrammetry in Hans Tausens Park in Copenhagen. Capturing of the scupture was done by 4 people/4 cameras by jointly dancing around the sculpture. At Hi-Rez, we decided to give ol’ Poseidon a make-over. It was time– as he was one of the first Gods of the original release of SMITE. I was very fortunate to get to work on this skin. He was passed around to other artists in the pipeline to make sure he fit to the Old version’s rig. My main job was to retopologize, texture and get his new body mesh into Unreal 3. I was, however, able to clean up the sculpt and finalize it for texture generation. Base-meshed in Max, Sculpted in Zbrush, Textured in Substance Painter 2 and Photoshop. One of my favorite enemy in Fallout 2, that didnt get much love in new Fallouts games(dont care about Chris Avellone note in Fallout Bible where he wanted them gone). Wanamingo is Alien like creature that live mostly underground, especially in Redding mines, that just like Deathclaws are actually results of FEV experiments. I keep it as close as possible to original model, so no sensor organs on head, needle like teeths and long tentacles. Nothing from that pig-like concept from early F3 graphics that look like… pig… As for model it self, It is rigged, but not animated, It was so long from I last time made mutant model that Im not even sure if I made IK rig properly.... But at least FK rig should be good. I could not use any fancy automatic rig as its not humanoid model… Model have one PBR Material in 4K, Default maroon color and more pale colors are included. Interesting Facts: The Sea-Doo name came from snowmobiles. The manufacturer, Bombardier Recreational Products, originally made Ski-Doos which are snowmobiles. And the Ski-Doo name was originally suppose to be Ski-Dog which references sled dogs. But one of the first brochures of the product misspelled the name, Ski-Doo and the name stuck. So they are called Sea-Doos because they are a water version of a snowmobile that got is name by accident. First made in 1968, there were complaints of overheating so they changed the engine from air cooling to water cooling. There was also complaints of the seat and handle bars. It was quite a challenge to make this scene in less than a week while working a full-time job. Some might say it’s an interesting color choice for a guitar amp, and I would agree. To be honest it was a complete accident. I was experimenting with different finishes when stumbled upon a deep blue plastic material in my library which later became the base for material that made it to the render stage. The original idea was to make it orange as they usually are, but every time I compared the two my heart leaned more and more towards the blue one. Se here we are. Blue Orange amp.
