My submission for the first Low Poly challenge of 2021! The combined lighthouse and windmill provides the Lighthouse Keeper with an excellent view of the surrounding reef, unfortunately it lighthouse no longer works as intended, meaning there have been a few… mishaps over the years. Though we are assured that it certainly wasn’t the Keeper’s intention! The crows nest provides a convenient way to cut across to get those fresh seagull eggs in the morning, and the diving platform provides a nice way to keep entertained through those hot summer days. There’s plenty to do and see - a fishing platform, covered to keep you protected from the midday sun, the odd wreck and legend has it there’s a treasure chest that’s been pulled on shore! Guglielmo Marconi was the first inventor to realize and develop the commercial potential of wireless telegraphy. With his breakthrough ideas, utilizing a ground and overhead antenna, he was able to extend the effective range of his wireless to many miles. By surrounding himself with the greatest wireless inventors and engineers of the day, he developed many wireless instruments that would expand the usefulness of his wireless system. Many of his rare original pieces of apparatus are on display in this room. To your left is a recreation of Titanic’s Marconi wireless room using authentic era devices. The rest of the exhibit includes rare original pieces of Marconi Wireless Company apparatus discovered in attics and collections around the world. Without Marconi’s wireless aboard the Titanic, all lives would have been lost. The Light Amphibious Assault Warship (LAAWS), also known as the Guadalcanal Class, is the primary ship-to-shore connector for the US Navy. Its purpose is to transport US Marines and their equipment to islands alongside larger helicopter assault ships and landing docks.
