Cairn Liath is an Iron Age broch that sits proudly on a rocky knoll and commands views over a long stretch of coastline. Broch’s are substantial stone towers or roundhouses only found in the far north of Scotland. They were constructed and used between 600 BC and 100 AD.
This broch has a circular interior 10.2m in diameter and substantial walls over 5m thick; there was one entrance passage to the building. The walls survive to 3.66m high, but originally the building would have stood to a considerably height and had higher floors. A staircase to higher levels was built into the wall.
The third Duke of Sutherland ‘cleared’ this broch in 1868 and some of his finds from his antiquarian excavations are preserved in the National Museum of Scotland. The site is in guardianship of Historic Environment Scotland. For more information visit Canmore: https://canmore.org.uk/site/14829/carn-liath

The Mary, Queen of Scots Casket 3D Model.
Download The Mary in various files formats such as Wavefront Object format, Autodesk FBX, DirectX 9.0, Stereo Lithography and HTML5 JSON format.
A finely decorated silver-gilt casket, made in Paris around 1490-1510, and believed to have been owned by Mary, Queen of Scots. It is an extremely rare example of French silver from the Renaissance era because much was melted down for their precious metals. Its survival attests to its association with Mary, and it has been treasured as a relic of this unfortunate queen by the Dukes of Hamilton for over 340 years.
Its particular renown derives from the belief that it is the casket that was dramatically produced at a hearing against Mary at Westminster in 1568, containing the notorious ‘Casket Letters’, used as evidence of the queen’s complicity in the murder of her husband Henry, Lord Darnley.

The chasuble is French and probably dates from the nineteenth century. Called a ‘fiddle back’ because of its shape, it is made of cloth of gold and lavishly embroidered with roses and lilies as symbols of Our Lady. The central design is worked mostly in bullions and depicts the Lamb of God on the Book With Seven Seals. Much of the embroidery has been laid over card. This object belongs to the Scottish Catholic Heritage Collections Trust, T8037aBLRBM - Bishop Gillis Vestment, Blairs Museum, Aberdeen - 3D model by orbitalscot 3D Model is ready to download for free, this model contains 417918 polygons.

These arches once formed the base of a tomb or shrine in the early medieval church that is now part of Glasgow Cathedral.
It may have been associated with the shrine of St Kentigern, the first bishop within the ancient British kingdom of Strathclyde, who died in 614.
Arched structures like this were sometimes used to enclose holy relics so passing pilgrims could see and venerate them.
