Caerlaverock Castle stands largely complete and is amongst the foremost examples of Scottish medieval secular architecture. Its triangular-shaped curtain wall is unique in Britain, and the Nithsdale Lodging within, dating from the 1630s, is one of the finest examples of Renaissance architecture in Scotland. Caerlaverock Castle was the chief seat of the Maxwells, one of the great noble families in southern Scotland. The castle is famous in history and literature through its siege by Edward I of England in 1300, commemorated in the contemporary poem, The Siege of Caerlaverock. Hydrothermal vents are commonly found near volcanically active places, areas where tectonic plates are moving apart, ocean basins, and hotspots.
Hydrothermal vents are common on earth because it is both geologically active and has large amounts of water on its surface and within its crust. Common land types include hot springs, fumaroles and geysers.

I saw this cuneiform tablet in a glass case in the musée de Picardie (Amiens-France).
I was immediately stunned by the beauty of this “3D” writing. Unfortunately it wasn’t easy to see inside the case.
So I made a few photos (through the glass case, hence some blue fringes here and there) and here it is !

The many extant copies show that the statue reproduces a famous Greek work from around 340 B.C.

The Half Moon Battery, built in the aftermath of the Lang Siege of 1573, was armed for 200 years by bronze guns known as the Seven Sisters. Six more guns defend the Argyle Battery, with its open outlook to the north.
