In the mid-1960s, a monument for fallen soldiers of the Battle of Sutjeska was designed by sculptor Miodrag Zivkovic. In the Valley of Heroes, Zivkovic set up a magnificent monument on the top of a hill. The monument enriched the space of the already famous ossuary, built in 1958 by architect Sakeb Hadzihalilovic, with the remaining bodies of 3301 Partisan soldier who died in the Schwarz operation. After two years of construction, Zivkovic's monument was ceremoniously opened in 1972. Wings of victory are placed on the top of the hill so that the entire valley of the Sutjeska River can be seen. The valley, bearing blood and suffering of less than a century old battle, is now protected by a magnificent white monument. On the top of either sleeve is a Cornwall badge in red, and directly brlow is a blue patch with a yellow dragon detailing. There is a slight spot of discoloration on the bottom of the breast pocket on the right- this almost looks like some sort of bleach stain. Inside the jacket is a label that reads “Battledress Blouses, Serge. Size no 6.” And the date stamp is June 1942.

A WWII radar station on Ward Hill, Fair Isle, it was a Coast Defence U-boat (C.D.U.) station which was the naval version of the R.A.F.’s Chain Home Low (C.H.L.) radar. Radar was used here to track shipping and surfaced submarines and at longer distances aircraft. Something that makes this site unusual is that parts of the antennas and their turntables still survive here. After the war the site was partially dismantled then some buildings/structures blown up with explosives. Damage to the floors indicate where some of the charges were set.
Fair Isle is situated about half way between the Orkney Isles and the Shetland Isles off the north coast of Scotland.

I’m proud to finally present a project I’ve been working on since 2015: A diorama scene depicting the Battle of Hoth from “Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back”.
My ultimate goal was to present drama and emotion through percieved detail while limiting my polycount as much as possible; Putting weight and motion into each hand-posed character to mimic the feeling one might get looking at a table with wargaming miniatures.
The concept was partially inspired by the Halo 3 “Believe” ad series.
Workflow:
No external textures were used, only vertex color painting and some baking for PBR compatability and reduced file size.
Done 100% in Blender3D.
What I Learned in the Process:
Getting to extensively use vertex painting was one of the most fun aspects of this project. I also gained a lot of experience in basic character modelling, and until now, I had never used Blender’s rigging system.
I gained so much more confidence in Cycles materials, and particle effects as well.
