This huge sculpture stands in the middle of Bordeaux (France). When I walked by, I was stunned by this “half flat” sculpture, and shot it with my phone. I was realy impressed by the very realistic rendering, although most of the volume has been flattened. Another feature worth noting : its proportions take into account the fact that the viewer is on the ground, so that the upper part of the head is much larger than it should be , to compensate for the perspective. This is a technique that has been know for a long time, (used by Michelangelo), but it’s interesting to see how it applies here. I was told a really interesting fact about antique medical supplies from a teacher who taught me 3D art in the past. The reasons for a lot of medical supplies/furniture during this time being green is so that when blood sprays on this colour, it appears as black and is less confronting to patients. This is because mixing red and green together, the result achieved is a dark brownish-black colour. The drawers and cupboards have functioning hinges and can be opened and closed to store all of your important medicines and supplies! This asset was created for EDEN, the indie surreal horror game by Missing Mountain Dev. The game takes place in an Australian Manor post WWII and the Gold Rush. This is one of those projects in mind long time ago wich finally sees the light. But at last, my beloved Pirate is done. I really love pirate´s stories since I was a kid. Reading a lot about that piece of history, I learned that sometimes is more interesting the real version than the romantic side of it. In this case, my inspiration waved between the fictional character Sophia of A Plage Tale Requiem, (and her absolutely amazing dismissed concept arts) and the impressive Grace O’Malley (a fiery red headed Irish woman born in Ireland in 1530) who was known as a pirate and a trader that even got to meet Queen Elizabeth I. Edit: My final challenge entry here! A quick WIP for the Sketchfab’s texturing challenge (no textures yet). An idea could be to try to display a few interestingly textured lowpoly versions of the statues in a virtual exhibition, revolving around a couple of flat shaded and naive versions of the statues. The statue remeshing was done from the high resolution scan, separating the hands, head and pubic region with blender and mmgs to keep some details while decimating. My first baking tests with complex materials went totally wrong though, so here is a WIP with just a roughness map and roughly baked (32 samples) lights from blender. This project really helped to teach me how to loosen up when painting as well as how to choose good colours. Kimber Custom Tactical Law Enforcement Rail II (TLE/RL II). This is the same handgun that’s used by the Los Angeles Police Department’s Special Weapons and Tactics team, which entered service from 2002 to present. Since around the 2010s, LAPD SWAT has upgraded their Kimbers to have a picatinny rail frame, which allowed the mounting of flashlights. I created this model based on references from the actual movie props and some amazingly faithful replicas. The geometry is relatively light weight for use in game engines. The counter animation is geometry based, so it can be used dynamically and adressed by code. Complete with 4K PBR textures. My motivation for this piece came from rewatching the Aliens movies. I took this as an opportunity to learn Substance Painter and figure out how to bake maps for a more complex model like this. It’s also always interesting to learn a few things about design in general and about the object you’re researching in specific. When researching references it helped me to find out that parts of this design are based on real life rifles like the “M1A1 Thompson” and the “Spas 12” shotgun 3D Model is ready to download for free, this model contains 7959 polygons.

It was quite a challenge to make this scene in less than a week while working a full-time job. Despite having to go to bed way too late every night, in order to finish it by the end of the week, I feel pretty good about the work I’ve done. Some might say it’s an interesting color choice for a guitar amp, and I would agree. To be honest it was a complete accident. I was experimenting with different finishes when stumbled upon a deep blue plastic material in my library which later became the base for material that made it to the render stage. The original idea was to make it orange as they usually are, but every time I compared the two my heart leaned more and more towards the blue one. Se here we are. Blue Orange amp.
