The aim of the project is to get enough materials for the future full-fledged work by architects, this involves obtaining a cloud of facade points.
To solve this problem, we applied a complex solution - a combination of laser scanning and photogrammetric imaging.
The work process is divided into 2 stages.
• The first stage involved laser scanning with panoramic photography and taking photos of the object from the UAV. It took 16 scanning stations and 350 photos to create an informative cloud of facade points. Using the RTC360 laser scanner and the Phantom Advanced UAV, this stage was completed in 4 hours.
• The second step was implemented by using Leica Cyclone and Capturing Reality software, which consisted of linking scan data in the local coordinate system.
The next item was an automatic combination of an aligned cloud of dots and photos.

At the end of Miller’s Canyon (Central Utah), just across the highway, is a huge plateau of yellow sandstone sitting on top of incredibly fluffy blue-gray sediment. Sometimes a block of sandstone will break off and roll down the soft slopes and end up out in the flats. Over a thousand years these huge blocks will weather and decompose into amazing shapes. These rocks are called “Miller’s Cows”. Some are as big as a bus, but these have eroded to almost nothing– just the bones of the cow.

He was passed around to other artists in the pipeline to make sure he fit to the Old version’s rig. My main job was to retopologize, texture and get his new body mesh into Unreal 3. I was, however, able to clean up the sculpt and finalize it for texture generation. Base-meshed in Max, Sculpted in Zbrush, Textured in Substance Painter 2 and Photoshop. Did a scan of one of our company shirts for a quick project. This is the first time I’ve combined two sides of a soft-body scan - cloth tends to be somewhat floppy. To flip the shirt without messing up the fold pattern, I made a sort of cardboard sandwich I could press together. I also overexposed the shots to improve the scan.
The cleanup wasn’t too bad. Even after deleting points from the platforms from the dense cloud they still made their way into the mesh a little. Ended up taking those out in Max, then smoothing things over in ZBrush. I also used ZBrush for the decimation and unwrap, and was really happy about the results. I like Max’s peel feature, but UV Master in ZBrush goes so much faster and gets rid of all the overlaps even if the result is bent a little.
I also still need to find a faster way to patch up seams. There was one towards the “south” side of the shirt that I had to a 2nd channel unwrap -> bake -> photoshop -> bake to ch1 -> mask into texture approach.
