Artist’s impression of an open cluster, a type of star cluster consisting of a few hundreds to a few thousands stars immersed in a tenuous nebula. They are found in spiral and irregular galaxies and originate from giant molecular clouds. The stars belonging to an open cluster are all formed at approximately the same time and distance. For this reason, the study of these clusters is of great interest to astronomers because they offer the unique possibility of studying how stars form and evolve as a function of their mass. The Milky Way hosts open clusters within and between the spiral arms. One of the most popular open clusters near Earth is the Pleiades, also known as the seven sisters (see figure). It consists of hot, middle-aged B-type stars and is visible in the northwest of the constellation Taurus, at a distance of approximately 444 light-years from Earth.

Making tests to animate the dolphin kick movement, in order to later recreate freediving underwater scenes.
The model and armature were created in makehuman, and animated in blender using keyframes.
As the movement was irregular, I had to use “Smooth keys” operator in the f-curve editor, which gave pretty good results although it reduces the amplitude of the movements. Betelgeuse is a red supergiant that shines in one of the “shoulders” of the constellation Orion. It is one of the brightest stars in the night sky, located about 640 light-years from us. As shown in this artist’s impression, the ambient environment around Betelgeuse is highly inhomogeneous due material irregularly blown away by the star. In fact, Betelgeuse is in a phase characterized by continuous expansion, and chaotic mass loss from outer layers of its atmosphere. The star is burning heavier and heavier elements in its core following its path to inevitably become a supernova. We don’t know when Betelgeuse will explode. It can be on any random day between now and the next ~100,000 years, very soon in astronomical timescales. When this will happen, the supernova will be the brightest object visible in the night sky for months.
