Artist’s impression of a class of massive stars (masses > 10 solar masses) known as Wolf-Rayet (WR) stars, named after the astronomers Charles Wolf and Georges Rayet who first classified these objects. WR stars are evolved, very massive stars that have completely lost their outer hydrogen envelope and are now fusing helium or heavier elements into their bright core with luminosities hundreds of thouands to millions of times the luminosity of our Sun. WR stars are rare because they are a relatively short phase in the life of the most massive stars. They are believed to end in dramatic supernova explosions. Most of them are surrounded by a dense expanding nebula made of gas continuously ejected from the star. The nebulae have a vast variaty of morphologies, so that a classification is not possible. The one shown here is reminiscent of the one observed in WR-124, a WR star in the constellation Sagitta. Artist’s impression of a star forming region, a dense interstellar gas and dust cloud where stars are formed in large numbers in intervals of time of the order of a million years. These clouds consist in a mixture of dust, hydrogen, helium and heavy elements previously forged in the interior of previous stars and ejected at the end of their lives in the form of dense winds and supernova explosions. New stars are formed in the cloud from the collapse of dense knots (an example is the star-forming region nebula NGC 346; see figure below). The newly formed stars are very active and characterized by strong variability: bright flares, massive accretion episodes, ejection of plasma in the form of collimated jets, coronal mass ejections, and winds. A video of this model can be found here The birth of a star is a complex process which takes place in molecular clouds of the interstellar medium. The clouds (or diffuse nebulae) consist in a mixture of dust, hydrogen, helium and other ionized gases. The interstellar material is enriched by heavy elements previously forged in the interior of stars and ejected at the end of their lives in the form of dense winds and supernova explosions. Dense regions within the clouds collapse and form new stars. For this reason, these spectacular nebulae are often referred as stellar nurseries or star-forming regions. The model is an artist’s view of one of these stellar nurseries 3D Model is ready to download for free, this model contains 526760 polygons.

 Is Betelgeuse really clos

Is Betelgeuse really close to go supernova? 3D Model. Download Is Betelgeuse really close to go supernova? in various files formats such as Wavefront Object format, Autodesk FBX, DirectX 9.0, Stereo Lithography and HTML5 JSON format.
Betelgeuse is a red supergiant that shines in one of the “shoulders” of the constellation Orion. It is one of the brightest stars in the night sky, located about 640 light-years from us. As shown in this artist’s impression, the ambient environment around Betelgeuse is highly inhomogeneous due material irregularly blown away by the star. In fact, Betelgeuse is in a phase characterized by continuous expansion, and chaotic mass loss from outer layers of its atmosphere. The star is burning heavier and heavier elements in its core following its path to inevitably become a supernova. We don’t know when Betelgeuse will explode. It can be on any random day between now and the next ~100,000 years, very soon in astronomical timescales. When this will happen, the supernova will be the brightest object visible in the night sky for months.
