Finally finished up my first handpainted model, YAY! This has technically been in the works since 2018 as I made the model itself back then but never finished the textures. Since then I learned a ton of new skills and fixed some of the topology and completly redid the textures. Unlike my mass-produced Ancient Khajiit armor, this badboy is an end-game, high-tier armor set, made with the mightiest metal, worked by the best blacksmiths, to be worn by the nobility of Roscrea. So I made the set in a way that players can wear it with pride… and hopefully flexing it on their friends next Monday morning.
Although our modern interpretation of the Vikings claims that they were no pretty boys, my study of Vendel period art says otherwise. According to many archaeological evidences, these pillagers took very good care of their appearance and hygiene, wear vibrant color palette and exquisite jewelry, and were capable of producing some of the most intricate art in contrary to popular belief.
With that knowledge, I took certain liberties to gild certain part of the armor in gold and added some more intricate engravings. We have no idea if he’s from the past or if he just loves to dress this way. All we know about him is that he’s an extremely strong warrior.
A few minor changes had to be made to the concept because I wanted to create and animate this character as a game model, but it still looked to be quite similar to the original idea.
Modeled in Maya, sculpted and rendered in Blender and textured in Substance Painter.

All objects, materials, and textures have proper corresponding names .The mesh is subdivion ready and it does not come as a single mesh. This makes manipulation and further editing much easier.

A concept that occured to me real suddenly one day, that i could vaguely see in my mind and I fleshed out as I went along while trying to preserve spider, bird and harpy traits or something. Thats where “weaver” came from, to refer to the weaving of webs. But if I knew vfx and stuff alike i wouldve iuncluded some kind of web shooting animation. Also found out sometime aftwerwards that a weaver is also a real bird, but not too resembling in my opionion.
