My entry for the #StorybookChallenge I wanted to work on a story from my childhood that hasn't been turned into a dozen different movie-versions, and since I´m a huge fan of stars, glowing things and a little pinch of magic, the tale “The Star-Money" seemed perfect to me. It's written by the Grimm brothers and tells the story of a homeless girl who is pure and kind by heart. As a reward for her kindness the stars fall from the sky and turn into gold. I was really curious on the particular art style the Valheim’s devs went for, so i tried to replicate it and make a scene for it! Had a real fun time on this one.
Most of the texture here are made by downscaling to something between 50x50 and 100x100, depending on the size of the object, and then upscaling to a normal txt size (512 or 1024), keeping the hard edges of the pixels.
This method specifically on the normal map is what gives really strange results that match the art style.

You can see many pine needles, they are long shape varieties,Although a lot of pine needles are dropped, most of the pine trees still retain green pine needles in winter.
In terms of materials, I recommend the AO map to be around 0.5 to cover up some imperfections when the AO map is baked. And make it not look very dark in deep holes. The curvature map is used in texture painting software.
