Alūksne Castle (Latvian: Marienburgas pils, Alūksnes pils; Swedish: Marienburg; German: Marienburg) is a castle of Teutonic Knights in current Alūksne, North-Eastern Latvia. The castle was built in 1342 on the largest of the islands in the Lake Alūksne and called Marienburg. The first castle was constructed by the Landmeister Burkhard von Dreileben. It was part of a major reinforcement of the Eastern border of Livonia. The strength of the castle was repeatedly proven by repelling a number of attacks in the 16th century. After the fall of the Old Livonia, the castle remained habitable. It was finally destroyed in 1702 in the Great Northern War by its Swedish garrison to avoid falling in the hands of Russians. The Machine Gun Bunker of Alhama de Murcia is one of the best examples of 20th century military architecture in the Region of Murcia. Its design and construction is part of the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939), possibly built in 1937, forming part of the Ground Defense Plan of the naval base of Cartagena, strategic installation, from the military point of view, for the survival of the Republic. The bunker is essentially built in concrete, a scarce and valuable material during the war that was only used in priority military installations. It conserves its two lateral entrances. Inside the bunker is divided into 3 spaces, two of them for the placement of heavy machine guns and the third to the storage of supplies and ammunition, also serving as a refuge. In Kameoka city near Kyoto the castle is not there anymore but the walls remains. In fact they have been rebuilt to restore some of the former beauty of this location. I captured 3 walls sections, the interesting thing here is the technique used to build the wall. Instead of well joined and polished stones here huge rocks are pilled up and smaller rocks fill the space between. It was suposedly designed to allow to hear soldiers cllimbing the wall as they would eventally let a small rock fall. This third wall is a low wall before a gate to enter the castle ground. This wall as fewer and big stones taht fit well together. Some stomes are recycled from other building as testify the carving tah tcan be seen in many stomes used in this castle. Oda Nobunaga ordered this Castle contruction as a base for the invasion of Tanba region. After the end of the Samurai at the Meiji area the Castle was dismantled and many stones used for the railway construction 3D Model is ready to download for free, this model contains 299999 polygons.
