3D scan of a primeval dwarf horse (Eurohippus messelensis) fossil from Messel, which is todays Darmstadt, Germany. Fossils from this area are extraordinarily good preserved. That is because 47 million years ago there was a tropical forest around Lake Messel, and on its floor the oxygen-deprived environment prevented decomposition of the corpses that sunk into the lake. This primeval dwarf horse of Messel is Number 28 of the NHM Top 100 and can be found in Hall 9 in Showcase 68 at the NHM Vienna. I made three 6k video around the monument from different angles, then I picked 120 frames from each of them, finally processing the 360 pics in reality capture.

Cooperation with our friends at G-3D-PrintThe front cover of the jetski was scanned using Artec Leo in 15 minutes (including chalc sraying, markers, etc.) and the post-process workflow took about 60 minutes in Artec Studio. The jetski belongs to the world champion György Kasza and his team. The purpose of the scan is to make a perfect fit bespoke fabricated composite cover, therefore some reverse engineering was necessary to get a native CAD data (step) to be able to machine the mold for the composite. For this, weve sed Quicksurface’s Autosurface option to get the nurbs surface based on the HQ mesh. In Southern Sudan B. rex inhabits swamps and lakeshores where papyrus and reeds grow. This material is used to build their nests. This specimen of the rare African bird comes from the Bahr el Ghazal estuary in Sudan and was donated to the NHM Vienna in 1913.
The Shoebill is Number 76 of the NHM Top 100 and can be found in Hall 30 of the NHM Vienna.
