Wanted to try something a little more stylised this time round. I’ve been doing a bit of reading in to the art style and rendering techniques behind Team Fortress 2 (Over a decade old and still looking great!), and got the idea to adapt a basketball hoop i’ve been making. You can see the hard surface topology is still in there, so this model (except the net) could be smoothed out quite nicely. Turns out it’s not that hard to achieve an authentic handpainted look. I’ve done a ton of researching and studying, and I’ve found a style that seems to really work when creating 3d ghibli-style scenes using Substance Painter. These techniques can be applied to basically any project. I’m really looking forward to improving the process later on this month. A custom Detonics Combat Master 1911 fitted with a compensator, used by Nishikigi Chisato in Lycoris Recoil. This is my 3D rendition of the gun plus the weapon case seen in Episode 2. The Detonics Combat Master is a sub-compact variant of the 1911 family designed specifically to target individuals looking for a conceal carry handgun. Chisato’s Detonics features a completely fictional/custom compensator that the animator likely took inspiration from Tokyo Marui’s Striker .45 airsoft pistol. In the anime show, Chisato states that she uses “non-lethal rubber bullets” that produces a dust of red smoke upon impact. But due to how the projectile disintegrates it’s more of a frangible ammunition, which is what my ammo box design is based on. Still rather lethal if being shot at nonetheless. This is my attempt at modelling World of Warcraft’s Sulfuron Keep from the Firelands raid. This model was created for a college project so any feedback would be greatly appreciated! And just as a side note: I am aware that the underside of the model and the fact that the platform is poking out from the lava does look rather unusual, however the main reason for this is because I wasn’t originally planning to upload this scene as a physical model that could be viewed from any perspective, instead, once the model was completed, I intended to take a single, static render of the scene as if it were looking through the eyes of a player, and uploading that image to my Artstation account, meaning that I wasn’t really focussing on any of the areas of the model that wouldn’t be seen within the final render. Last week I found a cool tutorial series in art station so I decided to follow it. I mostly followed my own stylized asset path while modelling but at some points I followed tutorial. At this point I am not be able to say tutorial was good or bad because I watched only small part of it but in the overall it was looking good. Antaria Online is a cross-platform casual MMORPG developed by Antaria, LLC. This is a large scale project that Thunder Cloud Studio has been handling the full-scale game art production from concept of environment, character, weapon system to smallest details like skills, item icons or game UI. The process required precision, technical setup as well as artistic so that the feeling of the game is unique and eye-candy even it can be run on a very low spec machines and cross platform later. Heavy influenced by Japanese chibi-style from Super Mario DS to Bravely Default, Antaria Online delivers a friendly yet dazzling visual which can easily make people fall in love at first sight and want to conquer every quests available. The goal is to convey the visual requirements of Antaria Online: a JRPG – characterized, lightweight, cannot be outdated easily yet looking as beautiful as possible.
