The monument to the Ukrainian poet, writer, artist and thinker Taras Grigorievich Shevchenko is located in the center of Kharkov - in the Shevchenko Garden, at the entrance to the central alley from the side of Sumskaya Street. The total height of the monument is over 16 meters, the statue is 4.5 meters. The goal of the project is to obtain sufficient information for further modeling and study of all details. To solve this problem, we used an RTC360 laser scanner, a DJI Mavic 2 Pro drone and a Canon EOS R camera. In the course of the work, laser scanning, photography from a quadrocopter and additional photos were carried out. The next stage was office processing. The second cycle was implemented using Leica Cyclone and Reality Capture programs, which were enclosed in data binding to a coordinate system. The next point was an automatic combination of aligned point clouds and photographs. The goal of this model was to practice using marmoset and quixel to make an asset similiar to one existing in a game to test my abilities, i chose to model the drilldozer (doretta) from Deep Rock Galactic. The game has a low-poly aesthetic and i wanted to try to make a more photoreal version and had to make some adjustments to the design to fit the change. I really wanted to make a scifi character in his combat suit. I was inspired by Star Citizen, but Halo’s designs are really the best ones for this. For the process, at first I made the lowpoly model in Maya, then I went to Zbrush to subdivide it and put all the details needed with my own alphas. I baked the highpoly model in susbtance painter, and then I tried to make several smart materials to texture the whole character. I also did 2 different camos, because I needed a character that could fit in my upcoming space station project. I also rigged my character with my own auto-rig, therefore I was able to put it in several poses. I’m proud to finally present a project I’ve been working on since 2015: A diorama scene depicting the Battle of Hoth from “Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back”. My ultimate goal was to present drama and emotion through percieved detail while limiting my polycount as much as possible; Putting weight and motion into each hand-posed character to mimic the feeling one might get looking at a table with wargaming miniatures. The concept was partially inspired by the Halo 3 “Believe” ad series. Workflow: No external textures were used, only vertex color painting and some baking for PBR compatability and reduced file size. Done 100% in Blender3D. What I Learned in the Process: Getting to extensively use vertex painting was one of the most fun aspects of this project. I also gained a lot of experience in basic character modelling, and until now, I had never used Blender’s rigging system. This is my scene for the Howest DAE diorama assignment. Before starting my studies at DAE I went on a summer trip to Norway and found the nature there, and in particular the forests, to be very inspiring. I tried to capture some of that experience in the foliage and landscaping of the garden. My main goal for this scene was to make it feel like a believable whole while still keeping a strong overall composition. I really tried to push myself on this one so any feedback will always be appreciated. I did my best to convey the forest loner’s story of why he lives where he does. He may be an art thief but I didn’t want to commit any actual art theft myself, so the paintings are just some photographs, mostly from Norway.
