Senedd Cymru (Welsh Parliament) (pronounced “sen-eth”: ‘th’ as in ‘the’ and ‘Come-ree’: ‘ree’ as in ‘reed’) is the home of the Welsh devolved parliament situated in Cardiff Bay, Wales.
The Pritzker Prize-winning architect Richard Rogers won an international architectural design competition to design the building. The building which faces southwest over the Bay has a glass façade around the entire building and is dominated by a steel roof and undulating wood ceiling.
The building was designed to be as open and accessible as possible, the architects stating “The building was not to be an insular, closed edifice.
