This time I wanted to make something from an actual concept instead of a real object. I took a lot of inspiration from the modeling and texturing techniques of games like Fortnite, Overwatch and other stylized game. I’d say stylized is not my strength, but I wanted to try it! I also managed to rig it and try animating for the first time to give it some spice! So this project began being another hand paint piece, but then I started trying post processing effects here in Sketchfab and I realized it looked quite good as a grayscale. This is the first time I use the post-processing so much, up to the point it’s changing the whole final result. I’m still happy with this project. I used Geometry nodes to spawn different elements on the ground. The leaves texture for the trees is not complete since I didn’t have enough time to get into that level of detail. Another model that was made to go in the back of an ambulance made by Mikephoenix I simply went on google images to reference what large oxygen tanks look like and i am really happy with the result, I wanted to make a face mask on the end of the tubing but at the time it was too advanced for me to model. This was also made with 3ds max, headus UVlayout and Quixel and it helped me hone my skills in the programs. The shoe is subdivision ready with a base polycount of 53,690 polys per shoe. The mesh uses four texture sets, all at 4096x4096 resolution, with the following maps in use: Base Color, Metallic, Roughness, Normal. The base color map contains the transparency information. There is an optimized, One Mesh version which has a lower polycount, 26,413 polys per shoe. This was achieved by removing small stitches and smoothing out the sole of the shoe. For the last model of the challenge, I have adapted and retouched one of the first scenes I did after studying and I have added an animation to include the topic as a lighting effect. Personally it has been a long and difficult year. Having joined the challenge has helped me handle it better. I hope next year will be better. The summer months were the most difficult to do but I am satisfied with the overall result. Next year I plan to spend the time learning Blender and Unreal 5 so I don’t think I’ll do the Weekly again. The AI is going to change everything, so things will have to be rethought. FF6 is one of my favourite games of all time, and with the release of the Snes Mini it made me want to replay it. This gave me the idea of creating a tiny diorama of the first city of the game. My goal was to keep only the buildings that I thought represented the city most and create a toy-like diorama. I used zbrush to sculpt the rocks.
