It’s been a while since I last posted a 3D model, and the reason is simple, I’ve been mostly drawing in my free time. So I looked for a way to share thoses as an interesting 3D pieces on Sketchfab. And so here’s what I came out with: Some kind of Virtual Workshop with a lot of textures ! I tried to make it as light as possible while keeping the quality decent, don’t forget to check “HD textures” if you can. There are drawings of all kinds compiled in there, some are design, some are studies most are random doodles to unwind at the end of the day. This isn’t meant to be a “best of”, a lot thing wouldn’t have made the cut, the idea is more of a dusty attic where you find old stuff you stored long ago to forget about ! This is a model of the North section of the House of PainT August 2018 graffiti under the Dunbar Bridge (Bronson @ Rideau River) in Ottawa, ON. Photos were taken September 11th, 2018. I’m experimenting with DSLR and software settings (Bentley Context Capture); this one is Medium Geometric Precision; Small hole-filling; Standard Simplification; Texture compression quality: 100% quality JPEG (but then imported into SketchFab which automatically compressed); Maximum texture size: 8192. I cleaned up the model in Bentley Descartes. This is my contribution to the digital car creation. It started as a simple model but adding more and more detail led it to the current state. The demo animation should give you some ideas what’s inside the package but it doesn’t include everything. I wasn’t able to optimize it for sketchfab without loosing too much quality (normally I’d hide parts of the model) so it’ll take a bit to load the textures and unfortunately (also for me) some of you (with slower GPUs) will struggle a bit to see the content - in that case, please pause the animation. It’s a complete model of the 911SC from ‘83. It’s completely unwrapped, with painted textures and rigged. The rig is of course made for this animation but I’ll attach a different one suitable for Unreal Engine. The idea came after having explained to Linda Flowers the workflow for creating a complete character. Kiddo (the little girl) is her first model. In a month I taught her the basics of modeling, retopology and texturing. Synth (the elderly character) instead was born in parallel while explaining everything to her. The basic idea was to create non-speaking characters and to be able to characterize them with actions, lights and shots. The Unreal sequencer was the best tool to do this. Synth and Kiddo are awakeners and travel from world to awaken gods of musical genres in seemingly neutral worlds. In this case the awakened god is that of New Retro Wave music. All models were made through my classic workflow: 1. Zbrush for the highpoly 2. Maya Retopology + UV + Rigging 3. Substance Painter 4. Maya for animation 5. Unreal Engine 4 and Marmoset for final renderings. I hope you enjoy! Began as an asset for a group project which never got off the drawing board. The idea was for a racing vehicle which moves at high speeds over water. I looked at retro and classic car and plane designs to get the initial concept done, and the design process snowballed into what you see here. Specular and Normals are a little rushed but they do the job. Geometry created in 3DS Max.
