A multi-faced sundial in the churchyard of St Marys Church, Elmley Castle, Worcestershire, UK.
This sundial (one of two at this location) is thought to date back to the mid 16th century, it is both a fine example and one of the earliest survivors of its type. The sundial is carved from limestone. There have been various restorations, the most recent was in 1971 when the gnomons were replaced. On the north side is carved the coat of arms of the Savage family.

Antiguo escudo de la ciudad de Carrión de los Condes, cuartelado con 2 carros cuyas lanzas se miran y sendos castillos. Puede verse hoy en uno de los jardines de la población pero originalmente estaba situado en el antiguo arco sobre el puente mayor, construido en 1610. Estaba formado por un arco de medio punto sobre el que se situaban 2 escudos, uno en cada frente. Éste, mirando hacia el río y el de Carrión mirando hacia la población, rematado en sus laterales con dos esferas pétreas y coronado con una cruz. Bajo este escudo figuraba la inscripción «Reinando D. En el primer cuarto del s. XX, con la generalización de los vehículos a motor se hizo necesario el ensanche del puente y la retirada del arco. The principal motif is a tonsured abbot standing dressed in a cowl; his halo indicates that he is a saint, standing with his abbot’s staff in his left hand and a buring torch as his emblem in his right. The staff, baculus was carried as the symbol of the pastoral duty.
There has been some despute to the identification to the person on the bench end, some say he cannot be identified while others have suggested the abbot to be St. Brendan, as his emblem in german documents is a burning torch, and St. brendan can be related back to Kirkjubø.
In the rounded top panel sits St. Olav enthroned. with a halo, crown, his long handed axe in his right and and the earth/orb in his left.
The small escutcheon above where the olique desk top would have been is the faroes coat of arms of the ram.
In the rounded upper top panel we find Erik of Pomerania’s Nordic Coat of Arms, the three crowns.

The old castle was his preferred hiding place for Sir Eustace’s valuables. Once he has recovered the gold, he’s going to spend some of it on luxuries to make the castle comfortable.
The chamberlain looked after the lord. Similar to the lady in waiting, he would assist the lord with dressing and making sure that he was comfortable. He might also have responsibility for the livery of the lord’s knights, making sure that the lord’s coat of arms was showing. He would also look after the castle finances.
