The chapel of the Constable or chapel of the Constables is the usual denomination of one of the chapels of the cathedral of Burgos, (Spain), although its true invocation is the chapel of the Purification of the Virgin. It is a masterpiece of light management and architecture in Spain.
It was conceived as funerary chapel of centralized plant, raised in the ambulatory of the cathedral, in flamboyant Gothic style and an incipient Renaissance.
Ordered to be built by Don Pedro Fernández de Velasco y Manrique de Lara, Constable of Castile, and Doña Mencía de Mendoza y Figueroa, daughter of the Marquis of Santillana, The execution of the project was in charge of the artist Simón de Colonia, from Burgos, between 1482 and 1494.
