In each position, it was completely scanned and photographed (using fixed ISO and autofocus settings and taking care not to shift the boot’s position relative to the background) before turning it. Processing involved registration and fusion of the scans, registration of all the photographs, and projection of the texture onto the 3D mesh. In total, the process took just over two hours. Space Spider’s ability to capture complex surfaces with up to 0.05 mm accuracy and 0.1 mm resolution are evident. It has now been shown through DNA analysis that the remains found in the tomb are those of Akenaten himself. The DNA has further demonstrated that Akhenaten was the father of Tutankhamen (King Tut). The face of the coffin and the name in the cartouche have been deliberately removed in an attempt to condemn the “heretic” pharaoh in the afterlife and erase his memory. Reconstruction by W. Klein and G.E. Rizzo. Klein’s satyr torso is based on a sculpture in the Uffizi, the head on a sculpture in the Louvre. The torso of the nymph is based on a statue in Brussels, the head, on a sculpture in Dresden. Rizzo changed the position of the satyr’s hands; he replaced the head of the nymph with the cast of one in the storerooms of the Vatican Museums. For details, see M.L.
