3D scan of a Eastern moa (Emeus crassus) skeleton from the Pleistocene. Moas are extinct birds that lived on New Zealand. This skeleton was gifted to the museum by Dr. Julius Ritter von Haast. This specific skeleton is housed backstage, but complete skeletons of both a giant moa (Dinornis maximus) and another Eastern moa are number 77 of the NHM Top 100 and can be found in Hall 30 of the NHM Vienna. Three more skeletons of different moa species (Dinornis struthioides, Dinornis elephantopus and Dinornis gravis) are displayed in the Ice Age (Eiszeit) corridor. Made in reality capture and lot of clean up in blender + manual painting of metalness map.
Scaled for VR sketchfab integration.

Cooperation with our friends at G-3D-PrintThe front cover of the jetski was scanned using Artec Leo in 15 minutes (including chalc sraying, markers, etc.) and the post-process workflow took about 60 minutes in Artec Studio. The jetski belongs to the world champion György Kasza and his team. The purpose of the scan is to make a perfect fit bespoke fabricated composite cover, therefore some reverse engineering was necessary to get a native CAD data (step) to be able to machine the mold for the composite. For this, weve sed Quicksurface’s Autosurface option to get the nurbs surface based on the HQ mesh. 3D scan of a primeval dwarf horse (Eurohippus messelensis) fossil from Messel, which is todays Darmstadt, Germany. Fossils from this area are extraordinarily good preserved. That is because 47 million years ago there was a tropical forest around Lake Messel, and on its floor the oxygen-deprived environment prevented decomposition of the corpses that sunk into the lake.
This primeval dwarf horse of Messel is Number 28 of the NHM Top 100 and can be found in Hall 9 in Showcase 68 at the NHM Vienna.

A small ancient Egyptian cat head made of a copper alloy from the collection of Bolton Library and Museum Services. The head is unprovenanced, but these objects are particularly well-attested at the sites of Bubastis and Saqqara. In ancient Egypt, the cat was associated with the goddess Bastet, and many objects like this were created to be given in offering at temples and necropoli.
This cat head features pierced ears and finely detailed eyes which may have held some form of inlay.
