This Neoclassical Lion guards the front of the Baltimore Museum of Art along with its identical companion. Baltimore artist Charles Klutch (1871-1951) carved the sculptures from limestone similar to that used on the facade of the Museum in 1929. They were based on smaller plaster casts executed by Adolph A. Weinmen (American, 1870-1937). Weinman used as his prototype an ancient Roman sculpture that originally stood outside the Villa Medici in Rome, but is now located at the famed Loggia dei Lanzi in Florence. Fire station no. 32 was constructed in 1907, after the Great Baltimore Fire of 1904. At 10:50am on February 7, 1904, a small fire in the business district rapidly spread throughout a large portion of the city by the evening. When the blaze was finally extinguished, “an 80-block area of the downtown area, stretching from the waterfront to Mount Vernon on Charles Street, had been destroyed” (History.com). Consequently, Baltimore City erected dozens of new fire stations after this event. More recently, the interior was completely renovated in 1984 to an office building, and in 1997 to house Baltimore City College.
I would like to reconstruct the fence and back portion of the building later using CAD - any advice/suggestions welcome!

This factory building was constructed by the city of Baltimore in the early 1890s as a refuse incinerator. Over the years, the space has been used for broom manufacturing, as an event space, a recording studio, general store, and most recently a distillery. The graffitied roof monitor with clerestory windows catches the eye of passengers exiting I-83 into the Remington neighborhood. A local development company is pushing to acquire the site and possibly turn it into a high-end grocery store.
