Here’s the result of a project i’ve been working on over the last few months. the model is a re-interpretation of an imperial knight gallant from warhammer 40k. the main model was modelled and rigged in blender and textured in substance painter. The base was made using destruction simulations in Houndini out of a mesh made in blender.

Plus some animtations I managed to pull off. I had the privilege to work with the super chill and talented teammate, Gabriel Eekenulv, Skyblivion’s Concept Art Lead. Together we produced this grand and regal set of armor. As a historical arms and armor enthusiast, I often time find it difficult to work with many fantasy concept arts. Most designs sacrifice basic understanding and practicality for “cool” aesthetics which make no sense. When I came across Eekenulv’s armor designs, however, I was in awe. His designs are grand, elegant, and “cool”, yet they maintain insights and functionality of armors, a perfect balance between “Realism” and “Suspension of Disbelieve”.
This was one of the most fun project I’ve produced in collaboration with others. Not to mention my Twitch subscribers who took part in submitting poleaxe designs, which eventually developed into the one you see.
