Yes, this was a hell of a scan… it look me 10-15 minutes to walk the entire street. Shootout to @polycam app (@cpheinrich), that handled the capture from the beginning to the end of this 560 ft long scan (170 m.)!

Clarion Alley is a small street in SF between Mission and Valencia Streets, notable for its world renowned murals. To me it’s the Street Arts Mecca, and it tell so much about the history of SF past decades, its mystical bohemian tradition, the challenges faced by its communities, and much more.

Description: Three larger fragments of the “black altar” and one smaller partial fragment area. This carved scene contains three figures and two hieroglyph block areas. The piece is on display at the Museo Nacional de Arqueología y Etnología in Guatemala City. It sits on a cement block and wood display cradle, and is in the salon including many sculptures from Kaminaljuyu. University of South Florida researchers Travis Doering and Lori Collins documented the piece using triangulation scanning, and the USF Libraries Digital Heritage and Humanities Collections model of the 3D data highlights the carved surface details with shading and rendering using ambient occlusion.

Ornately carved sandstone stela from the Archaeological Park and Ruins of Quiriguá, an inscribed UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Department of Izabal, Guatemala. We utilized structured light scanners at various resolutions on this monument as well as imaging and longer range laser scanning to capture landscape context details.
