After modelling an environment for my last project, I decided to focus on props this time. I pushed my modelling skills by attempting different spear designs, incorporating shapes that went beyond the typical box-shape. Spear B (middle) was especially challenging given its organic nature, so it was an opportunity to practice sculpting in ZBrush. However, because the pavilion as a whole was deemed too expensive in light of the construction and 1973 opening of Pirates of the Caribbean, Baxter proposed severing the mine train and building it as a separate attraction. This was my summer project before starting second year at DMU Game Art, although due to some module mix up, I spent about 3 weeks revisiting it on and off. The brief was to make a 10m x 10m realistic-style castaway island, using substance painter to texture. I originally planned to do a pirate-themed island and made extra props, but realised that they just didn’t work at all with the scene. Instead I’ve kept it very basic and natural.
