The Mosquito scan (415k tris) is from Geoffrey Marchal. Modeling: The scan was first remeshed with mmgs and baked to a lighter version (11k tris). The amber fragment was roughly sculpted in blender (“I have no clue what I’m doing” style), keeping the main face flat (clay strips + flatten brushes). The small fragments inside the amber were done by splitting all the main fragment edges and applying the “shrink/fatten” tool, followed by a random Displace modifier. Exterior fragments were then removed with a boolean modifier. I also give myself an additional small challenge: I won’t use anything outside the Substance standard shelf but 1 custom color profile (for rendering later). My idea is that MAT is an Space traveler who will “jump” through Space to explore the universe. Unfortunately, some planets are very dangerous so he lost 1 arm and leg. But now his new arm is strong enough to help him go further and safer. The device on his right arm is used for selecting the destination to travel, and of course MAT can check the time with it :). I have made this to match the CGI version with a complete smooth cockpit and extra details around the side blasters. The feet aren’t quite symmetrical, there is a small rectangular detail on the left side but not on the right. I have deliberately made the landing gear flaps on the chin different from the TV show because the on-screen version doesn’t close air tight.
