October Sculpting Challenge 2022 ❗NOT RIGGED, VERY ROUGH MAXIMO RIG PRESENT PLANNING ON RIGGING IN THE FUTURE PLEASE KEEP THIS IN MIND WHEN PURCHASING❗️ Decided to attempt a more detailed sculpt for this month, particularly focusing on wrinkles and organic detailing. Originally was planning on practicing simple hard surface techniques by creating a deer’s skull, but decided to take it further and create the famous Native American cryptid, the Wendigo. Also took the opportunity to learn how to better use and implement hair cards, although it does bump up the tri count a tad. Most of the portals I have seen are either stone or metal, so I wanted to create a stylised wooden, rustic Portal with some wood paint dye that has faded edges. Something that you may find in a medieval fantasy or the witcher. I used blender to create the model and substance painter to texture it. Most of the model is texture painted, aside from the painting that I stencilled around the base and there are some wood fibres that are procedurally generated. I created a particle system in blender and use a vertex force to get them to rotate. Blender doesn’t have a built in way to export animated particles, so I found a script online that I ran in Blender to convert the particle system to an animated mesh. Korshunov.[1] It was originally introduced during World War II from 1942 onwards as an emergency measure to replace the complex RGD-33 grenade. It continued in use with the USSR and its Warsaw Pact allies in the post-war period until replaced in 1954 by the RGD-5 grenade. Stockpiles were held for emergency or reserve issue, military aid, or foreign sales. They were eventually destroyed in the 1980s due to the TNT filling degrading and becoming unsafe. Unlike the RGD-33, the RG-42’s components were simple to produce and assemble. Only the fuze required specialized manufacture and the parts could be easily assembled by hand by cottage labor.
