Medieval church located inside the impressive Fortress of Calatrava La Nueva in Aldea del Rey (Ciudad Real, Spain). The castle/convent of Calatrava La Nueva was built in the 13th century to serve as the seat of the powerful Order of Calatrava and today it is one of the most important castles in Spain. Inside, a large 3-nave church was built in an artistic style that mixes elements of Romanesque, Gothic and influences of Islamic art. This mixture of styles, but also of constructive and decorative techniques, make the church of Calatrava La Nueva a unique place. Released in the middle of 2020, this collaboration between Ice cream company Ben and Jerry’s and Nike took the sneaker world by storm. Recreated in full detail here, it was important for me to create cow hair that resembled the real cow hair that is used on the shoe. Layered panels extrude from the shoe to create the depth require What’s included: There are three versions of this model. The Full Detail version has 12 texture sets, the Base Detail version uses 8, and the One Mesh version that uses just two. The Full Detail version comes equipped with layered cow hair and physical stitches, allowing for renders to be shot from amy distance and angle. With 1 level of subdivision surface applied there are 112,861 faces per shoe. The One Mesh version is intended for real time/ in game use. This version has 29,209 faces per shoe. Each version uses Base Color, Normal, and Roughness texture maps, with the opacity coming from the Base Color. Pre-Columbian Maya bat god sculpture curated in the Museo Popol Vuh in Guatemala City- Catalogue no. 2005-0032. This sculpture dates to the Late Preclassic and could likely originates from the Copan area of Honduras, bordering Guatemala. The monument is tenoned and could have been used as ornamentation on a structure. The glyphic text on the head and back of the piece relate to the monument’s dedication and ownership. Bats were an important motif depicted in Maya art and glyphic text, and depending on the context, possibly represented a harbinger of death, sacrifice, or the underworld, and often shown representing a particular cultural group. Part of a 3D digitization initiative with the Popol Vuh Museum in Guatemala City, and in collaboration with Camilo Luin, Curator, the Digital Heritage and Humanities Center at the University of South Florida Libraries,has partnered to document important sculpture and artifacts. I had the privilege to work with the super chill and talented teammate, Gabriel Eekenulv, Skyblivion’s Concept Art Lead. Together we produced this grand and regal set of armor. As a historical arms and armor enthusiast, I often time find it difficult to work with many fantasy concept arts. Most designs sacrifice basic understanding and practicality for “cool” aesthetics which make no sense. When I came across Eekenulv’s armor designs, however, I was in awe. His designs are grand, elegant, and “cool”, yet they maintain insights and functionality of armors, a perfect balance between “Realism” and “Suspension of Disbelieve”. This was one of the most fun project I’ve produced in collaboration with others. Not to mention my Twitch subscribers who took part in submitting poleaxe designs, which eventually developed into the one you see. Released in 2020 this collaboration between Playstation and Travis Scott was extremely limited, available to only friends and family, and five lucky fans who were drawn out of a raffle. The shoes features a biege canvas material in place of the usual leather accented by a light blue suede. Travis Scotts signature reverse swoosh, along with Sony and Playstation branding can be found on the shoe. Every detail was made in the recreation of this shoe, from the embroidered logos to the subtlety of each material nothing went overlooked. In the aftermath of the destruction of the Temple Area and walls of Ramses III at Medinet Habu, the Ethiopian Kings of the 25th dynasty undertook reconstruction efforts, rebuilding a mudbrick wall encircling the small temple upon the foundations of a wall of the same dimensions erected by Hatshepsut. With these massive mudbrick enclosure walls all but weathered away, the gate now appears as a free standing structure.
