Le castellum de Horbourg-Wihr est un camp militaire romain datant du quatrième siècle (estimé avec une fourchette d’une quarantaine d’année : 330-370). Ce camp forme un quadrilatère quasi régulier d’environ 170m par côté en mesurant à partir de la face externe, pour une superficie de 2.87 hectares. Le périmètre du camp a pu être établi de manière précise grâce aux travaux de C. Winkler et E.A. Herrenschneider à la fin du 19ème siècle et début 20ème. I wanted to make a new hellenic thing, but then realised that this may be original Roman design - at least I found no evidence of greek origins of the design. It’s still doric though!
This model is based on the sarcophagus of Lucius Cornelius Scipio Barbatus (clearly a roman guy), and here is the fun fact - the inscription on the tablet was once redone, most likely by one of the relatives of Scipio.
