Copper alloy statuette of Horus the Child (also known as Harpocrates) represented walking wearing a crown with uraeus. On one side of the hand is a loop to which was attached a side-lock, denoting his youth. Eyes are inlaid with gold. His right forefinger is held up to his mouth. The feet rest on a rectangular pedestal inscribed in hieroglyphs petitioning Horus the Child to grant life to Djed-ankh-ptah, son of Hor. Described by Professor Percy Newberry as being of a “very fine technique” and dating to Saite Period. I uploaded the sword alone previously and planned to upload its sheath separately, but eventually decided put them together so it can have a complete showcase as a set. Both high res model and all the details made in Zbrush, painted the texture in substance painter. The animal on the sheath at first was just flat shapes with no details on it, and I thought I finished the model. Later on I looked at it again and again, eventually decided I should add more details and to make the animal figures more alive and to give them more characters, since this was a sword made for Paraoh’s battles, it just has to have that spirit. Painting the texture was another challenge since there are just so many details on the original antique. Made this piece with a heart of awe, and it was a great learning experience!
