The average granite composition consists of roughly: ~40% Potassium Feldspar (Typically Microcline) ~ 20% Plagioclase Feldspar ~20% Quartz ~5% Biotite ~5% Hornblende (with the abundance of Potassium feldspar and quartz decreasing, and the abudnance of Plagioclase, Hornblende and biotite increasing as the composition changes from FELSIC towards Intermediate). This particular specimen is classified as a Syenogranite. Turns out it’s not that hard to achieve an authentic handpainted look. I’ve done a ton of researching and studying, and I’ve found a style that seems to really work when creating 3d ghibli-style scenes using Substance Painter. These techniques can be applied to basically any project. I’m really looking forward to improving the process later on this month. This is going to be an ongoing series where I explore different texturing techniques you can use to achieve an anime aesthetic, so make sure to sign up before the price goes up!
