St. Minas monastery (or Kaptavank) is located in the village of Kaputan, Kotayk region of Armenia, at an altitude of 1800 m above sea level. Unlike other similar types of monuments, the church stands out for its simplicity, severity and minimalism of decoration. The late 14th century alabaster tomb of Goronwy ap Tudur and his wife Myfanwy, prominent members of the family which gave rise to the Tudor dynasty, is located at St Gredifael’s church in Penmynydd, Anglesey. When the tomb chest was originally carved it would undoubtedly have been one of the finest monuments of its time. It was originally situated in the friary in Llanfaes but following the Dissolution of the Monasteries in the 1530s, the tomb chest was dismantled and moved to its current location at St Gredifael’s near to the original family home of the Tudors.
The model was commissioned by the Church in Wales and completed by Gwynedd Archaeological Trust in 2014, prior to conservation work on the tomb and repairs to the church.

This sculpture is the cenotaph (and empty tomb) of Francisco Moltó Valor who was the mayor of the city of Alcoy (Spain) in the year 1876 and an important businessman.
The sculptor was Lorenzo Ridaura (1871-1963) when he was only 27 years old. The work represents the three theological virtues: Faith, Hope and Charity.

The medieval chess pieces from the Scottish island of Lewis are among our most popular collections. They give us fascinating insights into the international connections of western Scotland and the growing popularity of chess in medieval Europe.
The eleven chess pieces on display in the Museum of Scotland were part of a large hoard buried on Lewis. The hoard contained 93 gaming pieces in total, including at least four chess sets as well as pieces from other games. The chess pieces were probably made in the late 12th or early 13th century in Norway.

At a strip mall across town is this concrete Statue of Liberty. I’ve driven by it for years. I decided to do a quick and dirty model of it. By the time I got to the strip mall, the sun was close to setting and I had to hurry.
As you can see, South Dakota seasons are hard on decorative concrete sculptures like this one. The agragate under the surface of the concrete is starting to show in places where the concrete has worn away. The protective paint is patchy giving moisture more places to penetrate and wear down the concrete.
This model is just the latest generation cast from a prototype I first saw in the 1980s when the Statue of Liberty’s centennial was approaching. Liberty fever was on the rise and someone cashed in by creating this stylized replica.
It has been recreated in aluminum, fiberglass and concrete. It can be found in numerous statuary and garden centers. Like the Boy Scouts copper replica, it is kind of ugly but it grows on you 3D Model is ready to download for free, this model contains 922579 polygons.
