Originally a much simpler asset, I began creating this model in Blender as a simple exercise before deciding to take the project further by improving the geometry, texturing and overall design of the asset. This included adding barbwire which initially was easy to make, but became extremely tedious when implementing changes and so I created a custom generator tool to improve iteration time and with considerably more accuracy. This was then baked in Marmoset and later textured in Substance Painter, using two materials with 4K texture sheet (using overlapping UVs to maximise quality) and a non-destructive workflow for fast iteration, then finally rendered in Marmoset Toolbag 3. 28 million mesh (A7R IV) vs. 16 million mesh (D5300).
Both models have been decimated to 800k meshes.
It was a part cloudy day so i used AWB with both cameras.
Personally i’m surprised that almost double the polycount shows on minimal difference when baking 3D Model is ready to download for free, this model contains 1617841 polygons.
