Decided to go wayyy out of my comfort zone with a fully handpainted model… and I’m pretty happy with it! The process took me much longer than expected, too, but better late then never hah.
I was obviously inspired by Zelda, so I wanted to make it a small contribution to that as well. And it was a good wood painting exercise!

Just a little preview for what I’m working on (and nearly done with), a 3d printable Rex droid!
There are no normal maps on this, it’s all water-tight ready to print geometry. Because of the limits of Sketchfab, it’s not SUPER high poly (like tens of millions), but it should be at the top end of the limit. It should be suitable for smaller scale print jobs, like if you wanted a 12 inch Rex droid. Probably not good enough for life-size, unless you don’t mind working with body filler and lots of sanding.
edit: a keen eyed fan pointed out the hand is the incorrect hand for this particular arm of Rex, and they’re 100% correct. For some odd reason I picked the wrong hand! Was meant to be for a Sketchfab challenge a long time ago, but lost track of time. So decided to extend it and do a little pack of beach assets instead. Texture is 4k, but none of the assets are relying on that size and are quite tolerant to downsizing, but it’s just to have the source-size. Same thing with the cloth is mostly just to show that it can be used for whatever you need it for, so the high-tri count on the cloth is just to give some examples.
