Galleys were used in Russia from Peter the Great onwards. The heritage of all galleys, Russian and Swedish, can be found on the Mediterranean. By 1790 this ship type was becoming obsolete. While it was large, the galley had difficulty navigating the open seas and could only carry a few guns in the bow and stern. It was essentially a carry-over from an earlier era of close combat on the seas. Some 80+ of these galleys were built in the 18th century in Russia. But after this war they were increasingly supplanted by smaller gun sloops of the Swedish type. Thank you all for 1000+ followers! Even though I’ve always been just doing my own thing and and upload rarely I do appreciate you all for being interested in my work! This time I wanted to take my skills to the test and make an entire enviroment in a pixely PS1 style. It was quite the undertaking but I feel that it turned out quite well! I was inspired by those early 3d/2d fighting games like “King Of Fighters Neowave” and such, therefore the stage is designed to only be viewed from one restricted angle. The idea came after having explained to Linda Flowers the workflow for creating a complete character. Kiddo (the little girl) is her first model. In a month I taught her the basics of modeling, retopology and texturing. Synth (the elderly character) instead was born in parallel while explaining everything to her. The basic idea was to create non-speaking characters and to be able to characterize them with actions, lights and shots. The Unreal sequencer was the best tool to do this. Synth and Kiddo are awakeners and travel from world to awaken gods of musical genres in seemingly neutral worlds. In this case the awakened god is that of New Retro Wave music. All models were made through my classic workflow: 1. Zbrush for the highpoly 2. Maya Retopology + UV + Rigging 3. Substance Painter 4. Maya for animation 5. Unreal Engine 4 and Marmoset for final renderings. I hope you enjoy!
