It was an interesting journey, I learned a lot about Maya, Zbrush, Rizom (first time using it) and Substance Painter.
I made the retopology in Maya but for posing and rendering I came back to 3D Max because I have more control on it and can make it faster there.
Only one month to finish the whole process, it was so hard to do that!! But at the same time I enjoyed it so much, because I got to learn a lot.

I finally built the tanker after weeks of experience. It’s the second series of civilian ships after LNG carriers. I think it took at least several times more time than the previous LNG carrier.
Compared to the previous one, the quality went up even more because it added various textures. In addition, we have created a virtual shipping company for this “private ship series,” and the name of the shipping company is “Baekyang Shipping.”
The white part of the ship is where the helicopter landing site and the logo were originally located.

The Dime building recreated from old images as it was in 1912.
The tower was designed in the Neoclassical architectural style by Daniel Burnham. The steel-framed structure is faced with white glazed brick and terra cotta trim. The most distinctive feature is the central light court which begins on the third floor and creates a U-shaped floor plan on the upper office floors. This feature can be seen in an earlier version on Burnham’s Miner’s National Bank Building, now Citizens Bank financial Center, completed one year earlier in downtown Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Miner’s National Bank is a similar, but smaller-scale design with the main banking hall in the space below the light court and featuring a large skylight. I’m proud to finally present a project I’ve been working on since 2015: A diorama scene depicting the Battle of Hoth from “Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back”.
My ultimate goal was to present drama and emotion through percieved detail while limiting my polycount as much as possible; Putting weight and motion into each hand-posed character to mimic the feeling one might get looking at a table with wargaming miniatures.
The concept was partially inspired by the Halo 3 “Believe” ad series.
Workflow:
No external textures were used, only vertex color painting and some baking for PBR compatability and reduced file size.
Done 100% in Blender3D.
What I Learned in the Process:
Getting to extensively use vertex painting was one of the most fun aspects of this project. I also gained a lot of experience in basic character modelling, and until now, I had never used Blender’s rigging system.
I gained so much more confidence in Cycles materials, and particle effects as well.
