Please note that this model has no interior modeling or walls, and there are 4 different material slots that include the wooden frame, walls, roof and windows. It works best as a background building, but with some updates it would work with close up views. I love the tudor building style, wooden frames and just general look of tudor architecture and if you use this model I hope if fits well into your scene. If I were to make this now I would use a different approach as some of the elements are not quite as oppitismed as they could be, but that is all part of the learning. For example I would now build the walls as modular sections and these sections would include the wooden frame which would make for a more efficient use of UV mapping and texturing. When I began studying 3D Animation & VFX, I had challenged myself to create a model from scratch to get a feel for Maya, the program I had shifted to at the beginning of my course. The texture set was created using Substance Painter, which I had found complicated to use but managable since in some respects it was similar to Photoshop, a program I am very familar with. Moving on to the asset itself, I decided to create the fabled Colt from the TV show supernatural. This project took longer than I want to admit, with there being tweaks in the model and textures throughout the whole ordeal. The model itself is my interpretation of The Colt, using reference images from the TV show itself and other sources that provided details such as the engravings on the gun. Overall, the project was fun to make and I’m quite pleased with the final results. Some 33 cubic metres of material was carefully removed by students of the MA in Archaeological Excavation (2013/14) to reveal the surface now exposed. This enclosure is some 65 metres in diameter and was originally enclosed by a stake/post fence and external ditch (approx. 1.25 metres deep). Note the linear arrangement of stakeholes marking the line of the fence. Two wide trenches running parallel across the surface are the remains of more recent cultivation (ridge-and-furrow) and have cut across earlier trench features. This site has been dated to the later part of the 5th Century AD. Approx 100m to the E is the well-known Garranes trivallate ringfort. This trench has been back-filled and the site now fully reinstated. The model was generated using Agisoft with some further processing in MeshLab.
